Nv5600 Trans
The acronym 'ISB' stands for Interact System, B Series. It represents the fact that the engine uses an electronically controlled injection system, and is part of Cummins 'B Series' engine family. All 24v Cummins were assembled at the company's Columbus, Indiana assembly plant, the same city in which the 'Cummins Engine Company' was founded. For 2004, the engine was selected as one of Ward's '10 Best Engines' for the year. Production of the 5.9L ISB ended completely (all applications) in June of 2009.
Designed as a replacement for the 5-speed NV4500, the NV5600 transmission is a 6-speed manual gearbox that was produced by the New Venture Gear transmission collaboration, between General Motors and Chrysler. It was used in Dodge trucks between 1998 – 2005, and featured a much better gear spread and torque capacity than it’s predecessor. Replace the worn NV5600 transmission in your 2000-2005 Dodge 5.9L Cummins with an ATS Built NV5600 Transmission. ATS manual transmissions feature cryo-treated internals and other upgrades to address weak points in shafts, gears and synchros.
