Since the debut of RemoteApp in Windows Server 2008, Windows users have been able to enjoy remote applications with the same look and feel as local applications. RemoteApp and Desktop Connections is a new feature in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. In this article. Remote Desktop Services (RDS) is the platform of choice for building virtualization solutions for every end customer need, including delivering individual virtualized applications, providing secure mobile and remote desktop access, and providing end users the ability to run their applications and desktops from the cloud. On Windows 10, the 'Remote Desktop' app is available through the Microsoft Store, and it's been designed to make it easier to connect and control other devices over the local network or internet.

What is the Remote Application Server?

The remote application server allows you to access Windows-based applications from any computer (Windows or Mac) or mobile device (smartphone or tablet) with an Internet connection. You can access software programs stored on the Remote Application Server without the hassle or expense of installing them on your home computer (see below for the list of available applications).

Faculty and Staff: Remote Desktop via the Remote Application Server must be requested using the online Remote Access Opt-in Form. Access to Banner INB, Hyperion Workspace, and WebNow is via the Secure Enclave. To use the Secure Enclave from off-campus, you must request Remote Access to your campus computer.

How do I use the Remote Application Server?

Citrix Web Application

We recommend that you use the web-based version of Citrix. To access the web application, open your web browser and navigate to https://apps.ccsu.edu, and then log in with your BlueNet username and password. To open an application, first open a folder (Academic Applications, Administrative Applications, or Public Applications) and then click on the application icon.

Citrix Receiver

You may also use the Citrix Receiver application to access the remote application server. When you open the Citrix Receiver application for the first time, you will be prompted to set it up to connect to the CCSU server. At the prompt, enter your CCSU email address (faculty/staff) or https://apps.ccsu.edu (students). When you are prompted to log in, enter your BlueNet username and password.

To open applications, click on the folder then application you wish to access. To create Favorites, click on the Details link next to the application icon then click on Add to Favorites.
